Lake Tahoe is the perfect place to enjoy Thanksgiving Dinner with family and friends. It is not uncommon for early snowfall to allow ski resorts to open on Thanksgiving Day. With so many quaint shops in downtown Truckee, Tahoe City and Incline Village, your holiday shopping experience can be magical.

Planning the perfect dinner at your Lake Tahoe retreat can require special planning and preparation. The area boasts many larger grocery chains and organic stores so you can shop once you arrive. If you would prefer to avoid the hassle, many of the resorts offer a full course Thanksgiving Dinner. It is important to book early, as spaces fill quickly.

Thanksgiving at Palisades Tahoe

Two Seatings: 2:30 and 5:30 PM

Palisades Tahoe will be hosting a Holiday Grand Buffet at the Olympic House, across from Le Chemois. Their Thanksgiving Dinner includes carving stations, holiday side dishes, and desserts. Guests will receive a complimentary glass of champagne upon arrival, and afterwards, a full bar will be available for purchase. Those under 21 will receive sparkling cider.

They offer two separate seating’s: 2:30pm or 5:30pm and reservations are required by November 20^th, 2024. For large families, they have special pricing for children aged 5-12. Children under 4 can participate at no charge, but they do require reservations for every member of your party.

You will have an opportunity to relax on comfy couches while watching the day’s sporting events on seven different TVs.

After dinner, unwind by the fire pits with delicious S’mores and a more robust dessert offering to cap off the evening. Complimentary corkage fee for wine bottles. (Seating at tables available for 90 minutes.)

Thanksgiving at Granlibakken

Granlibaken is hosting a delicious holiday buffett dinner in their Main Lodge. This year's full-course Thanksgiving feast is made from scratch in the Granlibakken kitchen, and features several vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and dairy-free choices.

The appetizer selection includes Wild Mushroom Crostata and Shrimp Hushpuppies. Along with a Harvest Squash Soup, they offer many salad choices:

• Chopped Salad with Iceberg, Carrots, Celery, Cherry Tomatoes, Peas, Red Onions, Blue Cheese (on side) and a Creamy Italian Dressing  
• Warm Spinach Salad with Bacon Bits, Oven Dried Roma Tomatoes, and Warm Whole Grain Mustard Vinaigrette
• Waldorf Salad

There are several entre offerings and a selection of sides that include the traditional holiday favorites.

• Herb Brined Roast Turkey
• Cedar Plank Roasted Salmon with Green Goddess Aioli
• Potato Dumpling and Plant Based Meatballs with Wild Mushroom Gravy and Fresh Herbs (V)

Thanksgiving wouldn’t be complete without an assortment of delicious pies, including Pumpkin, Pecan and Dutch Apple Pie.

Thanksgiving to Go

Several restaurants offer Thanksgiving meals to go that will feed 4-6 guests. This includes Trokay and Kitchen Collab. Other restaurants in Truckee that are open on Thanksgiving Day include Moody’s Bistro, Truckee Tavern and Grill, and Bar of America. Reservations are strongly encouraged.
